Tanmoy Paul is a research scientist of the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE) of TCG Centres for Research and Education in Science and Technology (TCG-CREST). Dr. Paul received his B.Sc degree from University of Calcutta with honours in Physics and M.Sc. from Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur (formerly Bengal Engineering and Science University) in Applied Physics with a distinction, and his PhD in Science from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science. Following postdoctoral appointments from Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, Technion-Israel Institute of Technology, National Taiwan University, Academia Sinica and S N Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, he joined this institute in August of 2022.
He is the recipient of the DST INSPIRE PhD Fellowship (2011), Newton-Bhabha PhD Internship Fellowship (2015), DST-SERB and INSA International Travel grant (2015), Lady Davis Post-doctoral Fellowship (2017), GTEP Outstanding post-doctoral fellowship (2018), MOST post-doctoral Fellowship (2020). He has chaired a session in 21st International Conference on Solid State Ionics in Italy (2017). He has also guided several bachelors and masters’ students both in India and abroad for their lab projects and thesis projects. Dr. Paul has 35 peer-reviewed publications and several codes in GitHub.
His research activity is of interdisciplinary approach, encompassing the areas of solid-state physics, spectroscopy, electrochemistry and electron microscopy for oxide ion conductors, electrode materials, electrostrictors for energy conversion and storage devices by computational and experimental approaches. The current focus is machine learning and its usage in energy storage devices and property measurements thereafter.
