Subhasis Ray
Associate Professor
Subhasis is an Associate Professor at TCG CREST. He received is undergraduate degree in Computer Science and Engineering from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. For his PhD he joined the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS), TIFR, Bangalore. There he worked on modeling biological neural networks, neuro-simulator development, and data and model description formats for neuroscience.
Subhasis received his postdoctoral training at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, USA, where he combined animal-experiments with computational modeling to answer fundamental questions in neural information processing. He then joined Plaksha University in Punjab as a founding faculty and developed and delivered courses in Data Science, Data Mining, and Neuroscience.
His research is aimed at studying the neural mechanisms involved in navigation in insects, and employs a wide range of techniques including electrophysiology, microscopy, simulations, and computer vision.
