Dr. Parthasarathi Bhattacharya

Dr. Partha is a distinguished industry leader in biotechnology, currently serving as the head of the Food Technology and Science Institute (FTSI). He is also one of the founding members and directors of Tierra Seed Science Pvt. Ltd., which later evolved into Tierra Agrotech Ltd. The company is listed on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and is based in Hyderabad, India, specializing in crop technology development.

With over 25 years of commercial research and development experience in agricultural biotechnology, Dr. Partha has established himself as an expert in molecular genetics, advanced crop breeding, and technology commercialization. His expertise extends to regulatory assessment of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), modern precision agriculture, mechanization, and science and technology management. His career encompasses leading significant R&D operations and collaborating on various projects with prestigious national and international institutes.

Dr. Partha’s academic journey began at the University of Burdwan, where he completed his B.Sc. (Hons) in Botany in 1984 and his M.Sc. in 1986. He then pursued further studies at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, earning an M.Tech in Biotechnology & Engineering in 1989. In 1995, he obtained his Ph.D. in Biotechnology from IIT-Kharagpur, with a focus on lectin biology.
