Debapriya Roy works in the domain of Computer Vision. Her primary research interests include Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Deep Generative Models. She has submitted her Ph.D. thesis at the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata, India. She completed her B.Tech in computer science and engineering from Jalpaiguri Govt Engg. College in 2013 and obtained her M.Tech. in information technology from the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology, Shibpur, India, in 2016.
During her M.Tech she has worked in the domain of Digital Geometry. Her M.Tech thesis was on the problem of finding the shortest isothetic path in digital objects. After her M.Tech she joined the Indian Statistical Institute, Kolkata in a project related to High-Frequency Trading under the guidance of Prof. Diganta Mukherjee. There she worked on Time series models for forecasting price and supply values. Thereafter she started her Ph.D. in the year of 2017 under the supervision of Prof. Bhabatosh Chanda. During her Ph.D. she has worked on several applications of image synthesis, e.g., virtual trial rooms, predicting human images with varied skin tones, etc. In addition, she has also worked on text binarization problems for old handwritten documents.
