Dr. Pradeep Kumar Mishra, PhD
Scientist, in vivo Electrophysiology
Pradeep completed MSc in Biomedical Sciences from Jiwaji University, Gwalior followed by MPhil (Neurosciences) and PhD (Neurophysiology) from National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS), Bengaluru, in 2017 under supervision of Prof. Laxmi T Rao and co-supervision of Prof. Bindu M Kutty, NIMHANS, Bengaluru. Later, he joined as a postdoctoral fellow and received prestigious DST-CSRI postdoctoral fellowship under mentorship of Prof. Sumantra Chattarji at the National Centre for Biological Sciences, Bengaluru.
Currently, he works on synaptic transmission, neural plasticity underlying fear learning and memory in a rat model of fragile X syndrome. In future he is interested to understand how stress disrupts synchronization between limbic brain regions (like amygdala-hippocampus-medial prefrontal cortex circuit)which elicits emotional symptoms seen in stress related disorder like PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder). Further, he is also interested in a rodent model of early life stress and its impact on neuronal development, maturation and ultimately adulthood behavior.
