Quantum computing is evolving at an unprecedented pace, presenting both immense opportunities and significant challenges. As researchers push the boundaries of what quantum systems can achieve, two key areas demand attention: discovering new applications where quantum advantage is truly possible and refining existing algorithms to make these applications viable. Progress in this field requires long-term commitment, interdisciplinary collaboration, and strong partnerships between academia and industry. Equally important is equipping the next generation of researchers with the right skills—especially as talent from diverse educational backgrounds, such as engineering, increasingly transitions into quantum research.

In a conversation with Dr. Srinivasa Prasannaa V, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Quantum Engineering, Research and Education (CQuERE), the Research & Development Office (RDO) of TCG CREST explored his journey from mechanical engineering to quantum research, his insights into the evolving quantum landscape, and the critical role of academia-industry collaboration in shaping the future of quantum computing.
